FORMATION OF EUROSEPCEPTICISM IN THE COUNTRIES OF CENTRAL-EASTERN EUROPE

author

E. N. SULIMA

abstract

Today, the EU is perceived by many as an attractive prototype of the “world of regions” (A. Etzioni) or the “cosmopolitan world” (W. Beck), which are replacing the system of nation-states. However, we should not forget that before the possible onset of the dominance of “global domestic politics” (W. Beck), there still remains to be a clash of national and supranational. This clash has recently come to the fore in the political life of modern Europe, including, inter alia, the appearance of a confrontation between Euro-federalists and Euro-skeptics. It has a decisive influence on modern European politics, outlining the parameters of discussions around the strategic priorities of the EU’s internal development, as well as a vision of its place and role in the global geopolitical space. Attempts to overcome crisis trends in the EU through its further federalization gives rise to growing opposition to these projects by Eurosceptics, which significantly affects the internal and external policies of the European Union. This largely determines the relevance of the work, which considers Euro-skepticism as an important component of the modern geopolitical discourse of the European Union, and is a powerful opponent of the forces that are actively promoting the acceleration of EU federalist reform.
