Abstract

The article discusses the development of the social sphere in the subjects of the Russian Federation. For this purpose, a system of indicators is being created that takes into account four areas of the social sphere: incomes and expenditures of the population, the welfare of the population, the state of the job market and health care.
Regional indicators are formed on the basis of indices, taking into account the average Russian indicators for 2010-2014. On the basis of complex and integral indicators, the analysis of interregional differences and dynamics of social development in the subjects of the Volga Federal District in 2010–2020 is carried out.
The analysis showed that after the events in 2014 and the sanctions policy of unfriendly countries in 2014–2015 worsened income-expenses and well-being of the population in the studied regions. The impact on the state of the job market turned out to be more short-term, and the health care system maintained the dynamics of development. The impact of the spread of coronavirus infection in 2020 mainly affected the welfare of the population and the state of the labor market.
The results of the study can be used to develop regional socio-economic development plans, for example, when forming social orders, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of the implementation of social development plans.
