Abstract
The modern scientific community has no single general concept of «marriage», as approaches
to the definition of the latter are often dictated by cultural, legal, economic, institutional and other factors. The
definition used in different countries and cultures largely reflects the level of socio-economic development of
the said countries. On the other hand, the socio-economic features of the development of countries determine
the choice of the approach to the institution of marriage both in modern realities and in historical perspective.
This article is aimed at examining the evolution of approaches to the definition of marriage in Russia and
the United Arab Emirates in the context of their socio-economic prerequisites.
Keywords
marriage, institution, property, transaction, UAE.
