Abstract
The article is devoted to the issues of describing the state of the domestic retail sector during
the period of sanctions restrictions and determining the prospects for its development. It is clarified that the
retail sector in 2022 faced a number of problems, including the outflow of capital investments, the instability
of the national currency, the growth of banking risks, inflation, the disruption of supply chains, the curtailment
of promising projects, as well as the introduction of direct restrictions, for example, in the field of technology
imports, fashion industry, etc., the exit of representatives of foreign brands from the market, a decrease in
consumer activity.
It was revealed that despite the active unprecedented sanctions influence of Western countries, the domestic
retail industry has maintained a price increase in turnover. Based on the results of the study, we formulated
the prospects for the development of the retail sector, namely: an increase in the activity of domestic brands in
the overall structure of product categories of retail chain stores; continued implementation of technology imports
and an increase in import volumes, development of the import structure through interaction with promising suppliers;
innovative development of the retail sector through the implementation of technological, managerial and
marketing innovations; adaptation of domestic companies to the changed operating conditions, identification of
new categories of players whose activities are based on the import of goods from departed foreign companies
into the domestic market; taking into account changes in customer preferences and consumer habits, taking into
account the special significance of pricing factors in the structure of incentives to consume.
