Abstract
The author suggests improving the management of the regional forest sector to meet the
needs of industry and society. Rational use and control of forests on the lands of the forest fund is of great
importance for the country and requires improvement on the part of state bodies within the powers granted to
them. The study attempts to consider this aspect and show it within the framework of the region’s economy.
The state forest policy of the country is not used systematically, its role in the life of Russians is minimal.
Therefore, it is very important and relevant to consider the role of forest policy in the accelerated improvement
of the institution of public administration in the context of reforestation and rational use of forest resources.
The forest complex of the Irkutsk region has faced many problems due to Western sanctions. The economy
of the forest industry of the region by itself, without the timber industry complex (hereinafter referred to as
the LPC), cannot count on development in the region, where the use of wood resources by industry is one of
the leading projects in forest policy. The study was conducted on the basis of materials from the Forest Code
of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Forestry and publications in the periodical press.
The state of the forest industry is studied, possible ways of solving problems in the forest industry of the
Irkutsk region are considered.
