Abstract
The article analyzes the indicators of economic sectors on the example of mechanical engineering
and construction. A comparison of reporting at a time when companies invested money in the technological
development of organizations with ordinary activities was carried out. In mechanical engineering,
Rostec companies and united corporations – aircraft and shipbuilding - were analyzed. In the construction
sector, the authors analyzed the LSR, Setl Group and Etalon groups.
SWOT-, PEST-analysis and analysis of Porter’s five forces were carried out, BCG matrices were constructed.
The author’s categorization of companies according to their behavior, depending on the focus on
profitability or growth, is carried out. The features of companies depending on their age, belonging to the public
sector are outlined. Based on the model constructed in the article, the development of a number of industries
and trends in them are predicted. Clear criteria have been defined for combining the company’s features for
implementation in the given industries. Assumptions are made about the specifics of the analyzed industries.
Comparative analysis has shown that in addition to industry specifics, the focus of companies on profitability
and growth can vary according to a number of criteria given in the work.
