Abstract

Recently, the issue of sustainable economic development is tightly connected with the theme of “green transition” and reducing the carbon footprint. Kazakhstan, as one of the key states of Central Asia, has also not abandoned the idea of decarbonization and the transition to renewable energy sources. The potential of renewable energy in Kazakhstan is significant compared to the global level. Nevertheless, its full implementation contradicts economic expediency and, taking into account the requirements of energy security, is not the most effective solution to achieve the goals of carbon neutrality of the Republic.
