Abstract
This article reveals the essence and significance of such an important socio-economic component as “demography”. Undoubtedly, the topic of our research is very relevant to date. After all, the prosperity and development of any state is directly related to the existing demographic situation in the country. As we know, any changes in the demographic structure of society have both direct and indirect impact on many important factors, in particular on the economic situation in the country, labor market, social sphere, etc. In addition, it is thanks to timely and competent analysis that any state can promptly take certain measures to improve the economic situation in the country, based on the values of fertility, mortality, migration, population composition, etc. In addition, in the course of writing this paper we have identified the main features of demography, among which the following criteria are reflected: age, gender, marital status and social status. As the fundamental goal of this scientific work was the study of the current demographic situation in the regions of the Russian Federation. For clarity, we conducted a comparative analysis by regions of Russia on the criteria of fertility and mortality of the population. We also identified ways to improve demographic indicators both at the level of individual regions and at the level of the whole country.
