Abstract

The paper discusses the current security issues of microcontrollers used in embedded systems. The main threats faced by microcontrollers, including physical and software attacks, are described. An overview of modern protection techniques such as hardware and software solutions, as well as their combinations, is provided. The effectiveness of different approaches depending on threat type and application specificity is evaluated. Special attention is paid to trends and prospects for the development of protection methods in the context of microcontroller architecture complexity. Based on the analysis carried out, practical recommendations for the development of more secure systems were proposed.
