Abstract
The level of modern geodetic and cartographic technologies in our country has increased significantly with the development of society and the progress of science and technol-ogy. Geodesy and mapping are used to achieve the goals of urban management or engineering planning using the most direct data or graphics. With the development of society, the require-ments of industry and engineering for geodesy and mapping have constantly increased, and the geodesy and mapping technologies that were used in the past have proved unable to meet the requirements of smart city projects. This article mainly outlines the role of geographic infor-mation systems in geodesy and cartographic technologies in the construction of geodetic and cartographic projects, as well as explains in detail the functions and characteristics of geographic information technologies in order to draw conclusions that can contribute to the development of society and geodetic and cartographic engineering.
