Abstract
This work is devoted to the problems of survival of small and medium-sized commercial businesses in the import-oriented Russian market. The segment of cut flowers and the specific factors of its development are considered. The practice of franchising in this segment is being investigated. An analysis of the profitability of using a symbolic franchise from a number of large companies is provided. The conclusion is substantiated that the franchises being implemented do not solve the problems of small trading businesses and the need to create an organizational and economic mechanism for integrating small businesses into systemic trade.
