Abstract

The article analyzes the phenomenon of bullshit jobs. The author comes to the hypothesis that bullshit jobs are a symptom of a specific regressive thinking that accompanies the disappearance of classical capitalism and the Protestant ethic. Modern economic thinking presupposes latent nihilism. We can talk about modern economic thinking as a manifestation of the concept of the «disgusting remainder» – the belief that only the base, the negative is true, but at the same time only it gives meaning to economic reality.
