Abstract

The article considers the peculiarities and problems of investment activity of modern enterprises. According to the authors, investment decisions should be justified taking into account the results of evaluation and comparison of the volume of proposed investments with the amount of possible investment profit. The authors believe that the insufficient volume of investment at modern enterprises is due to the existence of obstacles of both financial and non-financial (economic) nature. At that, as the main financial obstacles they consider: insufficiency of own funds at enterprises; difficulties in attracting debt financing; use of available funds for other types of activities, which provide higher profitability for a shorter period. The main non-financial obstacle, according to the authors, is the high degree of uncertainty about future economic conditions, which may have a negative impact on the level of return on investment.
