Abstract
Human resource management plays an important role in the realization of strategic objectives in the field of higher education. The priority area in this field is talent management, whose importance is recognized by both business and government representatives. The purpose of this article is to study theoretical research on the concept of talent management and its impact on the activities of higher education institutions. In order to conduct the analysis, Russian and international studies on the concept of talent, ways of managing gifted employees and assessing the performance of organizations were used. The study reviewed the main approaches to the definition of talent and talent management, including in the context of educational institutions. The impact of the approach on the effectiveness of the institution was evaluated, a new definition for talent applicable to academic staff was proposed, and a comprehensive system for assessing talent of university workers was developed.
