Abstract

Currently, education is a generally recognized and essential tool for solving many of the challenges that humanity faces, implementing the topical tasks and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) both within individual countries and the entire human civilization. This article examines key international events that have secured the status of a basic human right for education and recognized the potential of opportunities and resources for the development of society and the world as a whole through education. The article presents the problems and results of achieving SDG 4 «Quality Education». It also reflects the essence and intent of the concept of «lifelong learning», which has become especially popular on the global agenda in recent decades.
