Abstract
The article considers spatial development as a strategic category of state policy aimed at forming a balanced territorial structure of the national economy taking into account regional specifics and potential. The essence of spatial development is revealed, which goes beyond the simple redistribution of resources and involves the creation of conditions for sustainable and inclusive growth based on the competitive advantages of each region. The need for an interdisciplinary approach, including economic and mathematical modeling, territorial analysis, urban studies and strategic management, is substantiated. The methodological and institutional foundations of spatial development, mechanisms of territorial integration and classification of sustainability indicators are illustrated. Particular attention is paid to the role of the state as an organizer and investor of spatial transformations, which is confirmed by both domestic historical experience and modern practice. It is concluded that an effective spatial development policy is possible only with long-term planning, institutional coordination and active state participation.
