Abstract
The article analyzes the role of the agro-industrial complex (AIC) as a strategic factor of Russia’s economic sustainability. It considers the historical background of the sector’s development, achievements in import substitution, export potential, digitalization, ecologization and staffing. Special attention is paid to the problems of technological dependence, rural degradation and climate change. State support measures, innovative directions and the opinion of representatives of agrarian business on the importance of the agro-industrial complex in the conditions of foreign policy turbulence are highlighted. The conclusion is made about the key importance of the industry for ensuring sovereignty, food security and sustainable development of the country.
