Abstract
One of the important aspects affecting customer loyalty of a retail store is the speed and convenience
of service, which is important in the context of increasing competition among retail outlets for everyday
purchases. The presence of queues for a significant proportion of customers can be a crucial factor when
choosing between two outlets.
The authors considered two simulation modeling approaches to solve these problems: discrete event
modeling and pedestrian modeling. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are outlined, and two
types of models are constructed for a typical supermarket “at home” located on the ground floor of a residential
building. The fundamental possibility of using the Anylogic software product to solve these tasks is proved.
