The article discusses the development of the Chinese energy industry. The analysis of the dynamics of China’s energy consumption structure is carried out, special attention is paid to the current situation in the Chinese coal industry, gas production and consumption in the country, the specifics of pricing in the Chinese electric power industry, and the priorities of the PRC’s energy strategy. The Chinese initiative “One Belt– One Road” is highlighted separately. The main focus is on determining the prospects for gas cooperation between Russia and China. The article describes the key Russian-Chinese projects in the gas sector, taking into account the factors that contribute to strengthening cooperation and complicate it. It was emphasized that the further deepening of the strategic partnership between Russia and China in the energy sector largely depends on the development of investment cooperation and industrial cooperation with the participation of companies from our two countries, and mutual energy integration forms a solid foundation for a long-term strategic partnership in a changing global energy architecture.
