Abstract
It is well known that the categories of style and content are inextricably linked, since one of
the functions of style is the fixation and expression of a certain content. At the same time, such
concepts as the content of a style and the content of a piece of music included in a specific style
context cannot be identified. The interconnection of style and content in musical works of different
eras can be different. The article discusses the dialectics of the interaction of two categories
in the styles of various levels, as well as the forms and methods of manifestation of style
determinants in the meaningful compositions of the works. Style dominants, personification
of style in typical images of the epoch, monograms, initiations, allusions are used as concepts
that combine both semantic and style attributes.
Despite the fact that the categories of style and content are developed in the works of many
scientists, there is still no special study on the subject of their interconnection and interdependence.
Meanwhile, the knowledge of the stylistic aspects of the content of musical works
and the ways of their manifestation helps to decipher the semantic content of a particular
composition, and is in demand both in theoretical courses and in the performing practice of
musicians of various profiles.
