Abstract

An important characteristic of the multimedia installation is the way it is perceived by the viewer — the installation provides a unique reading of the work. The author's annotation can direct the viewer's attention, mentioning the problems of the artwork, however, all the semantic work is done by the viewer himself. This article explores the multimedia installation "Nothing" by the artist Tsang Kin Wah, which was located at the M+ Art Centre pavilion in Hong Kong in XNUMX. The paper analyzes the external architectural features of the installation space, as well as the internal characteristics of the parts and the aesthetics of the installation. The artistic and expressive means used by the author are studied; their technological universality is discovered and described. It is worth noting how diverse and simple the expressive means of the "Nothing" project are, and how wide the artist's "multimedia" materials are: earth, wood, video projections, steel, text installation. All these materials come together seamlessly in Tsang Kin Wah's grandiose plan.
