Abstract
The historiographical article is devoted to a little-studied stage in the history of the Russian
Siberian folklore — the period of the Revolution and the Civil War (1917–1922). It is poorly
covered in the scientific literature, and there are no monographic studies specifically devoted
to this topic. The history of the Russian Siberian folklore studies is considered in the context
of the regional history of the development of related humanities (history, ethnography, ethnomusicology,
local lore, dialectology, etc.), taking into account the sociocultural context of the
epoch. Based on the interpretation of qualitative and quantitative (statistical) data from bibliometric
analysis of publications, the process of the development of folklore studies in Siberia is
examined, the contribution of particular scholars, as well as scientific, educational and other
institutions, public and private initiatives, which predetermined the specifics of the scientific
thought in the region in 1917–1922, is evaluated.
Continuing the traditions of the pre-revolutionary Siberian ethnography and folklore
studies, Siberian scientists found opportunities for conducting expedition, scientific and
teaching work, forming new professional staff for organizing the folklore work in the
region. The focus on coordinating the efforts of scholars in the field of Siberian studies and
the creation of scientific communication networks contributed to the formation of a model
of interdisciplinary research in Siberian and wider — Russian science. The transition to this
stage of scientific research organization has become one of the prerequisites for the scientific
planning of folklore research, developed already in the Soviet period.
