Abstract
The article examines the musical texture in compositions for bayan duet performed at the pre-professional level. The pre-professional stage is defined and compared with the next professional stage in duet performance, and the main differences in terms of repertoire and textural peculiarities are determined. The musical texture in the folk music arrangements preserved in the recordings is deciphered with the help of the ethnomusicological method. The typology of the musical texture in the works of the first amateur duos which played on harmonicas with a chromatic three-row right keyboard and full bass-chord accompaniment in the left half-body, is provided. A comparative analysis of the musical texture in the repertoire for a bayan duet and a piano duet of the pre-professional levels, is carried out. The techniques of musical texture presentation in arrangements of folk music for piano duet, which constitute a significant part of the repertoire for bayan duos, are compared. The organological possibilities of the bayan and its predecessors are considered. The advantages of the bayan construction and the prospects for the presentation of the musical texture in duet works are revealed. The ways of presenting the musical texture in the performance repertoire created by participants of amateur bayan duos are studied. The article analyses the performance programmes of two bayan ensembles and reveals the differences in the ways of musical texture presentation.
