Abstract

Modern methodology of academic vocal training in China is a multi-component discipline with a large number of independent vocal and methodological schools, which until the beginning of 2025 has not been sufficiently studied in Russia. At the same time, since 1987, the development of scientific and creative relations between the USSR/Russia and China can be called positive, competing with the influx of graduates from European and American universities to the People’s Republic of China. The purpose of the article is to trace the current trends in higher vocal education in Russia and China. Objectives of the article are to outline the general and specific in the methods of teaching academic singing in the two countries; to distinguish and identify the unique in the approaches to working with students in the process of mastering the academic repertoire; to analyse the components of an integrated approach to teaching academic singing in universities, including a range of professional disciplines that differ significantly in Russia and China. The paper considers the creative implementation of Russian vocal specialists’ achievements in the practice of vocal education in China, as well as the peculiarities of voice and breathing production in Chinese music universities, which are of particular value for Russian teachers of future singers.
