Abstract

The article examines professional competence, which is a set of knowledge, skills, abilities and experience necessary for the effective performance of professional activities of a teacher. For its development, continuous improvement and psychological competencies are necessary.
Purpose. Analysis of improving the professional competence of employees.
Methods and methods. Analysis, synthesis, comparative method were used.
Scientific novelty. The article reveals methods for developing the professional competence of employees. The author points out that the assessment from the professional community and students is significant; factors of student behavior are listed that indicate a loss of attention in educational activities or a decrease in the ability to perceive material. The article introduces the concept of internal discipline of students and highlights the distinctive features of this concept. The author substantiates why a cultural orientation should become a distinctive feature of modern education. The results of the study include methods for assessing the professional competence of employees: state certification for qualification category and suitability for the position; assessment using portfolio; a system for assessing the professional competence of employees based on a professional standard. The criteria for assessing professional competence are indicated.
Practical significance. The author answers the problematic question of what a teacher needs to do to form a relationship between him and the student on a personal level. The key ideas of the article can be the basis of programs for advanced training courses, teacher training, and special courses.
