Abstract

The problems of the history of the formation of the system of professional choreographic education in the People’s Republic of China from the moment of its creation and up to the institutionalization of the integral infrastructure of choreographic education in the context of the political reforms of the New China are considered.
Goal. Defining the specifics of the professional choreographic education system of New China as a social institution based on the samples of Soviet choreographic education in its development.
Methodology and methods. Historical-genetic, systemic and functional approaches were used.
Scientific novelty. The article reveals the specifics of the formation of both the ideological basis of professional choreographic education and the first and leading educational institution in the field of choreographic education in New China – the Beijing Academy of Dance (Choreography). The author analyzes a number of program documents that defined both the pedagogical system of Chinese professional choreographic education and the ideological attitudes laid down at its creation and successfully implemented for many decades later. The article defines the content and organizational and pedagogical specifics of professional choreographic education in New China, demonstrates the contribution of Soviet figures in the field of art pedagogy to the formation of professional choreographic education in the People’s
Republic of China. The conclusion is made about the high importance of relying Chinese choreographic education on similar Soviet experience while preserving the national specificity of the traditional foundations of Chinese choreographic art.
Practical significance. The materials and conclusions of the article can be used in the practice of pedagogical activity of professional choreographic educational institutions in the organization of the educational process in the field of the history of choreography pedagogy (by country), professional development of teaching staff, updating of educational and methodological materials.
