Abstract

The article shows the positive opportunities potentially inherent in the educational module “Service Learning”, as well as the risks that may arise during the implementation of the module. Some approaches are proposed to minimize the identified risks.
The purpose of the article: to comprehend the idea of service in the context of professional training of students, to reveal its potential and the risks of implementation.
Methods and techniques: critical analysis of scientific sources describing this problem, generalization of the experience of the higher education system in the context of improving the quality of student training by bridging the gap between the theoretical and practical components of the educational process.
The novelty of the approach lies in the development of the educational module “Service Learning” aimed at involving students in socially significant activities, revealing the meanings of service, seeing the opportunity to contribute to improving the life around them, to improving the quality of their professional education.
Practical significance: by implementing the capabilities of the educational module “Service Learning”, the authors offer ways to minimize risks, ensure satisfaction of today’s students with their own careers, the quality of the education they receive, and civic activity.
