Abstract

Modern education is increasingly integrating with digital technologies, requiring teachers to update their competencies and prepare for learning in a modern educational environment. The article reviewed the thesaurus of concepts of formal, non-formal and informal education, professional development of teachers, as well as approaches to digital education.
Purpose: to consider the importance of professional development of teachers in the context of digital learning, identifying the need for constant updating and development of skills for effective teaching in the modern era.
Methodology and methods: study and analysis of literature, generalization, observation.
Scientific novelty: the article examines approaches to digital education of teachers, describes the experience of foreign colleagues, and describes the practical experience of applying advanced training programs for teachers of higher educational institutions aimed at improving their digital skills.
Practical significance: the article presented the results of the approbation of the professional development program for the development of digital skills of teachers, as well as described the problems found during the approbation.
