Abstract
In the context of globalization and the development of Internet technologies, the study of foreign languages is becoming more and
more in demand, and secondly, to the fact that scientific and technological progress, the emergence of innovative communication technologies
have allowed the development of new, more advanced methods of teaching foreign languages both in schools and in higher educational
institutions.
The purpose. To analyze, classify and evaluate modern methods of teaching a foreign language in secondary schools.
Research methods. The author used general scientific and private scientific. Among the general scientific ones is the method of analysis,
comparison, deduction and induction. Among the private scientific ones are the method of scientific classification, the method of analyzing
educational technologies, and the method of generalizing scientific research.
The theoretical basis of the study. This article is based on the works of Russian scientists and teachers who have considered various aspects of
innovative teaching methods. Among them are Berezina T.I., Moskalenko M.S., Pavlova E. V., Shchemeleva I. Y. and others. Thus, in the work of
T.I. Berezina, the author considers visualization and observation as the main methodological principles in the development of oral and written
English by students. We also studied the educational and methodological manual of I.Y. Shchemeleva and Y.S. Vasilyeva. The authors provide
a detailed classification of innovative methods of teaching foreign languages and explain in which classes, at which stages of the lesson it is
most appropriate to use certain methods.
The scientific novelty of the study. The author brought together and classified all modern methods of teaching a foreign language, gave
a detailed analysis of each of them.
The practical significance of the research. Scientific papers can be written on the basis of this article, complementing and specifying the
conclusions made by the author. In addition, the materials of the article can be used by teachers of a foreign language at school to prepare for
lessons.
