Abstract

The sanitary-hygienic standards of the Russian Federation, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the People's Republic of China (PRC), the European Union and the World Health Organization (WHO) on the content of lead in milk, meat and offal, as well as the maximum allowable levels (MDL) of metal are presented in feed for farm animals, established in the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the EAEU and the USA. A comparative analysis of national and international standards for lead in livestock products revealed significant differences. The entry of the Russian Federation into the World Trade Organization (WTO) requires harmonization of national and international standards for the content of lead in livestock products (milk, meat, offal). To ensure food safety of the population of the Russian Federation (milk, meat, offal) on the basis of WHO sanitary and hygienic standards, it is necessary in toxicological studies to clarify the MDL of lead in feed for farm animals and scientifically substantiate the permissible limits of daily intake with the diet.
