Abstract

In the modern economy, there is a continuous process of transforming scientific achievements into productive power, and production into the practical embodiment of scientific research results. For decades, innovative topics have been in the focus of the scientific interest of foreign and domestic scientists, gradually expanding the limits of knowledge of this process. The provisions of their works have multiple empirical confirmation and subsequent theoretical increment. However, in economic science there is no single rule that is valid for all times and situations. The theory of innovation, which has undergone a significant evolution over a period of more than 100 years of development, is no exception. This article provides a review and analysis of the main scientific approaches formed in the framework of the development of the theory of innovations, establishes the dominant trends and possible directions for the development of this direction of scientific thought for the future period.
