Abstract

The paper is dedicated to the memory of an outstanding scientist, the founder of situational control and father of Artificial Intelligence in the USSR and Russia, creator and first president of Soviet (now Russian) Association for AI, Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Professor Dmitry A. Pospelov. He passed away on October 30, 2019. The author focuses on his decisive role in developing an original branch of science called «Situational control of large systems» based on semiotic (logicolinguistical) modeling. Some prerequisites and basic principles of situational control are considered, the historical milestones of its development are shown, main scientific schools in this field are mentioned. The emphasis is made on the development and use of Dmitry Pospelov’s ideas and methods by Kaliningrad scientific school in designing and implementing the dispatch control system for the sea fishing port
