Abstract

Basic life path stages and principal scientific contributions of the founder of Artificial Intelligence in the USSR and Russia, creator and first president of Soviet (now Russian) Association for AI, Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Professor Dmitry A. Pospelov are discussed. The main attention is paid to an initial period of his scientific and educational activities in Moscow Power Engineering Institute, including his pioneering talks in the MPEI Psychonics Workshop and creation of scientific school in situational control & artificial intelligence
