Abstract

The paper deals with the development of conceptual foundations for emotion engineering in solving particularly complex problems. Important functions of emotions as a behavior management tool, a means of mobilizing creative resources, and a mechanism for evaluating the type of intrasystem critic are identified. An emotion algebra is introduced that allows calculating the value and sign of a complex emotion using simple operations on its components. A binary tree of emotions is constructed based on reflexive evaluations as a way to determine secondary emotions by evaluating the success and failure of other people. Some essential properties of emotions are highlighted
