Abstract

Economic science has in its arsenal a wide set of tools that allow researchers to solve problems of social development in the most effective way. A special place here is occupied by mathematical tools to support economic decisionmaking. They too have their own history, which includes a rather important stage associated with the development of the socalled "economic barometers". The presented article is devoted to the consideration of issues related to the emergence and development of the barometric method in economic research, as well as to the determination of the degree of its influence on the further development of economic and mathematical modeling.
