Abstract
The need for the theory of fuzzy sets is explained by the fact that
thanks to fuzzy sets, it becomes possible to describe fuzzy concepts,
operate on them and extract fuzzy conclusions. Today,
fuzzy logicbased
fuzzy systems are being implemented almost everywhere, in many business entities in order to analyze and
evaluate information, make forecasts and model. The application
of this theory has made it possible to make a breakthrough in the
organization of management of technical facilities.
The term «fuzzy set» was introduced by Lotfi A. Zadeh, having
expanded the concept of a set, became the author of the theory
of fuzzy sets, and he considered classical sets to be a special case
of fuzzy ones.
The reason for the popularity of fuzzy set theory lies in its peculiarity,
namely the ability to take into account human judgments.
However, all knowledge and judgments reproduced by humans
are fuzzy, subjective and in most cases uncertain, so it was necessary
to create a mathematical theory that could take into account
approximate judgments of people, which is the theory of
fuzzy sets. Thanks to the emergence of this theory, it became
possible not only to consider phenomena at a qualitative level, as
it was before, but also to conduct a quantitative analysis, which
is truly important in modern realitiesd.
