Abstract

The article discusses the special role of small and medium enter-prises in the regional, national and global economies. The study emphasizes the importance of using a sustainable supply chain management system in the op-erational strategy of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The aim of the study is to summarize the main directions of sustainable development of the supply chain, identifythe characteristic features, risks and problems that arise when implementing the sustainable development scheme in supply chain man-agement (SCM) for SMEs and effective forms of global supply chain management used by the analyzed companies. The existing models of a multi-level closed-cycle supply chain, indicators and factors that have a negative impact on the environment are summarized. The importance of a balance between business, the environment and the social sphere in supply chain management was em-phasized. The study revealed a lack of knowledge in the activities of the MEA sector related to the problems of supply chain management.
