Global monitoring of biodiversity: monitoring its status by international organizations

Abstract

The problem of preserving the planet's biological diversity in the modern world is one of the most acute. The international community is making a lot of efforts to preserve and increase it. The initial and one of the most im-portant stages of environmental protection measures is environmental monitor-ing. International organizations play a key role in the implementation of global monitoring. This article discusses in detail the concept of global monitoring of biodiversity. The first paragraphs of the article are devoted to the disclosure of the concept of "biological diversity", the history of the issue, the analysis of fac-tors that negatively affect biodiversity. Then, special attention is paid to inter-national environmental activities carried out in the framework of global monitoring of biodiversity, key programs and projects dedicated to global monitoring of biodiversity are considered in detail, conclusions are drawn on the effectiveness of the work done by international organizations.
