Abstract
Currently, environmental stability and security are becoming increasingly important as an element of national security. The development and improvement of financial, legal, educational, social and cultural components of environmental regulation system is now a global trend. The purpose of this publication is to study the role of environmental audit in the system of sustainable environmental management. The article examines the advantages and disadvantages of the current system of environmental audit in Russia, the basic approaches to its implementation, systematizes the reasons (motives) for the application of environmental audit by enterprises and the reasons for the interest of the state in its implementation. The article analyzes the foreign experience of incorporating environmental audit into the system of national environmental security.
