Abstract

The legal status of central banks in various countries is undergoing significant changes. Significant transformations include expanding the goals and functions of central banks, more transparent decision-making processes, strengthening accountability mechanisms and increasing the ability to collect the necessary information.
In particular, many countries have begun to give greater priority to financial stability and financial supervision as part of the mission of central banks, which leads to more active cooperation of central banks with other authorities. These and related changes in the legal status of central banks emphasize the importance of analyzing the legal status of regulators of individual countries over a long period of time, and several countries among themselves.
