Abstract

This scientific article reveals the problem of the lack of a normative definition of corruption in the legislation of the Russian Federation. Within the framework of the article, the author describes various approaches to the definition of corruption in Russian legal doctrine, analyzes the essence of corruption and gives its characteristics, considers various approaches to understanding corruption in international law and in foreign countries, including Germany, China, and the Netherlands. The opinion of foreign legal scholars on the concept and essence of corruption is given. In conclusion, the author analyzes the need and feasibility of adopting a normative definition of corruption.
