Abstract

Purpose of work. The relevance of the problem under study lies in the fact that the development of the pandemic and the adoption by the governments of the countries of the world of a few restrictive measures led to a serious economic crisis on a glider scale, a contraction of consumer demand and supply. The purpose of this article is to analyze government policy measures to overcome the economic consequences of the pandemic both in Russia and in the world economy.
Materials and methods. The objectives of the study include an analysis of the Russian and foreign practice of applying restrictive measures to reduce the mortality rate of the population, as well as the impact of these measures on economic processes, the effectiveness of state policies to support the population and economic sectors in a pandemic. The initial data for the analysis were strategic regulatory documents, including the use of the Consultant database, and the official web pages of the authorities, the World Bank, national statistical services, expert assessments, and analysts' opinions.
Results. The study showed that in modern conditions it is extremely important to carry out urgent, radical and effective measures in the field of health care, social protection, strengthening global cooperation, reforms in areas that provide an opportunity to prevent economic crises triggered by epidemics.
Conclusion. The stagnation of the economy at the beginning of 2020 was superimposed by a pandemic, further exacerbating the instability and uncertainty of the prospects for the development of the global economy that has been observed in recent years, so it may take a long time to overcome the consequences of the pandemic, even for the world's leading economies.
