Abstract

The purpose of the work. To identify the effectiveness of the use of online dictionaries in teaching a foreign language.
Tasks. To analyze the psychological features of the formation and assimilation of vocabulary, the types of existing online dictionaries; to compare the capabilities of these tools in teaching.
Results. The dynamics of the development of online resources used in teaching a foreign language is investigated. Their characteristics and features that most effectively contribute to the assimilation of educational material are presented.
Conclusion. Based on the analysis of traditional and online dictionaries, which are most in demand when learning a foreign language, the conclusion is made: the systematic use of any learning tools should be based on knowledge of mental processes and phenomena that contribute to achieving a positive result.
