Abstract

The article presents the results of a study to assess the impact of various types of bedding material on the productive qualities of broiler chickens and the occurrence of pododermatitis of paw pads in them. It was found that the bedding material from straw was in many respects inferior in quality to the bedding material from sawdust. The straw was more humid, polluted, and marked «cakes» were formed on it, which increased the microbial contamination of the poultry house's air space.
