Abstract

Cervical spondylomyelopathy or Wobbler's syndrome is a common disease of the cervical spine in dogs of large and giant breeds. When diagnosing this disease, one cannot exclude the possibility of a patient having two or more comorbid pathologies of the spinal column, since their presence may adversely affect the results of treatment. It is necessary to make a comprehensive diagnosis of patients to identify all diseases and prescribe the subsequent most effective treatment. This article presents the incidence of various diseases of the spinal column and spinal cord simultaneously with cervical spondylomyelopathy in dogs. Among them were syringomyelia, protrusion of the intervertebral disc, discospondylitis, neoplasm of the spinal cord and roots, myelitis, spinal root cyst and lumbosacral stenosis. Each of these diseases adds a number of clinical features described in this article that are not characteristic of cervical spondylomyelopathy.
