The monograph is devoted to solving problems of improving the theoretical and methodological foundations of modeling territorial and economic agroformation. The paper considers one of the key conditions for the sustainable development of rural territories - the conformity of the specialization of the regional agro-industrial complex (on the example of the Leningrad Region) with the climatic and economic conditions of a given territory. The issues of agricultural policy of different historical periods of Russia are highlighted. Particular attention is paid to the reasons for the low efficiency of agricultural production, the problems of its balanced development. In a monographic study, the author proposed the concept of sustainable development of rural areas of the Russian Federation.
