The authors, using publications of research in the field of veterinary sanitary examination of food products of plant origin, practical experience of specialists, as well as their own experience in this field, presented summarized data on issues of Russian legislative acts regulating the safety of food products of plant origin for non-industrial manufacture; organization of work of state laboratories of veterinary sanitary examination of food products, including plant origin of non-industrial manufacture; issues of veterinary claims and the necessary procedure for veterinary sanitary examination of plant products in food markets are highlighted; requirements of veterinary and sanitary examination and assessment of various plant products presented for sale (fresh, pickled and dried vegetables, fruits, berries, vegetable oils, seeds (sunflower, pumpkin and corn), nuts of various types, as well as fresh and dried mushrooms, characteristic which are described in a special table, a list of poisonous and inedible mushrooms that are prohibited for sale is given; standards for sampling plant products are given; requirements for veterinary and sanitary examination of subtropical and tropical fruits are given.
