The book is devoted to the analysis of the development of philosophical ideas about man, about the historical types of interpretation of the body, soul, spirit and their relationship. In the context of the peculiarities of the cultures of antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, as well as the present, the author reconstructs the most significant anthropological concepts, illuminates the views of major philosophers of the past and present. Particular attention in the book is paid to a comparative analysis of the anthropological constructions of Russian and Western thinkers. At the same time, on the one hand, the specific features of their philosophizing are revealed, due to historical and cultural and mental foundations, and on the other, the lines of continuity and ideological influences associated with the formation of an understanding of man in the course of the world historical and philosophical process are traced.
