The textbook "Methods of combat with cold weapons and methods of protection against them" is intended to provide methodological assistance to commanders of military units and subdivisions, physical training specialists in conducting training sessions on throwing a knife, a small infantry shovel and available improvised means with servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (AF RF), cadets and students of specialized educational institutions
The textbook reflects methods of teaching close combat techniques using a knife and protection against it, as well as methods of throwing a knife, plates, sharpenings, nails, an axe and a sapper shovel. The textbook includes theoretical and practical sections (12 chapters). The theoretical chapters include a chronicle of the emergence of prerequisites for modern army hand-to-hand combat, pedagogical principles and methods of teaching, the basics of classical sports training and competitions, introduce close combat tactics, psychological preparation and safety techniques.
The practical chapters are divided into two parts. The first includes: techniques of attacking with a knife and self-defense against them, techniques of deceptive actions, passages through defenses, work with a knife against a knife, combinations of fencing with two knives against one and two knives, against two. The second practical part is devoted to teaching techniques of throwing various objects: a knife, plates, sharpenings, a small infantry shovel and an axe.
All technical actions are presented according to the rules of didactics, using methods of step-by-step formation of motor skills. Although the chapters have a logical sequence, they can be studied independently depending on the tasks set.
The textbook is a supplement to the study materials of the discipline "Physical Education" - a section of sports and mass work for cadets of military schools, special departments of military academies and special forces units. It is also a good reference material for instructors of military history clubs and coaches of army hand-to-hand combat.
