Abstract

The aim of this article was to review various methods for the determination of quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), used to determine the exact content of this group of substances in various disinfectants. The main methods of analysis include: spectrophotometry, chromatography, electrophoresis, electrochemical methods, biological methods, gravimetry, titration. The choice of method depends on the specific characteristics of the QACs, the purpose of the analysis and the availability of equipment. Chemical methods such as titration, spectrophotometry, chromatography are preferred at analyzing QACs, as they are usually more reliable and less susceptible to interference.
